Application Process

Applying to our Supported Shanghai Internship and Solo Shanghai Internship Programs

When to Apply:

SmartIntern operates on a rolling-admission basis, meaning you can apply for an internship at any time. Please apply a minimum of two months in advance of your desired internship program so that we have the time to place you in the right position.

Applying and Interviewing:

After you fill out an application, a SmartIntern consultant will follow up with you for a Skype interview. During the interview, they will come to better understand your skills, aspirations, and work and educational experience. Of course, they will be happy to answer any questions you might have about SmartIntern or life in China as well.

Internship Acceptance:

After your interview, you will be notified you within 3 working days if you have been accepted into one of our programs. Upon acceptance, we ask for a $595 deposit as a show of seriousness about working in China. We ask for the remaining balance of the program fee within one month of receiving your initial deposit or 6 weeks from your scheduled start date in China, whichever comes first.

Resume Optimization and Placement:

We will work with you to optimize you resume and then begin the interview (if applicable) and placement process with your new company!

The Professionals We Want:

In China, flexibility is key. We want students or young professionals who are globally-minded, nimble, and open to new experiences. Students who are interested in building an anti-fragile career that thrives in a rapidly changing global economy typically report high levels of satisfaction and personal growth from internships in China.
